The History of Hendrick in Plastics

When Rohm and Haas, a German chemical company sought to popularize the use of Plexiglas® following World War II, they began referring the Hendrick Panel Saw to their distributors. Hendrick was soon gaining national renown, as Plexiglas® distributors used the Hendrick panel sawing machine to trim the rough edges of their cell-cast Plexiglas®. Hendrick panel saws, the first of their kind to be marketed to the plastics industry, opened new production horizons for both panel saws and the plastics industry.

When Hendrick married computers with the panel saw and introduced computerized routing machinery they once again revolutionized plastic processing, vastly improving productivity and machining tolerances. Hendrick has historically been and continues to be today the innovator in plastic panel sheet processing and machining.

Article featured in current August/September 2010 issue of IAPD Magazine: Preventative versus reactive maintenance

Do you have an enforced preventative maintenance (PM) plan in place? Have you fallen for the common misconception that routinely scheduled maintenance is more costly than running your machine until it fails? Given today’s current economic climate, preventative maintenance has never been more important and is a valuable investment in your existing assets. Every company and their respective machinery can benefit from a proper PM plan; if you do not have a strong plan in place you should implement one immediately. Plastic fabricators and distributors should be particularly vigilant about their PM practices, given the harsh nature of their materials and work environments.

Jobs that routinely took three to four hours between the two older panel saws, were now taking only 20 to 30 minutes on the new machine. “There is a new velocity through the shop, on the upwards of six times faster depending upon the job,” reported McCarthy.
