Materials/Industry Applications
In the late 1940’s Hendrick coined the phrase “panel saw” and applied it to its product for cutting large sheets of material. Prior to Hendrick’s panel saw, the most common method of sizing large sheets was manually pushing them through stationary blade table saws; a practice both non-productive and dangerous. The name panel saw has since become the tool’s generic name used worldwide for a machine that processes large sheets by holding them stationary while traversing a saw blade through the material.
Hendrick in Plastics
When Rohm and Haas, a German chemical company sought to popularize the use of Plexiglas® following World War II, they began referring the Hendrick Panel Saw to their distributors. Hendrick was soon gaining national renown, as Plexiglas® distributors used the Hendrick panel sawing machine to trim the rough edges of their cell-cast Plexiglas®. Hendrick panel saws, the first of their kind to be marketed to the plastics industry, opened new production horizons for both panel saws and the plastics industry.

Hendrick in Nonferrous Metals
In the late 1940’s Hendrick coined the phrase “panel saw” and applied it to its product for cutting large sheets of material. The name panel saw has since become the tool’s generic name used worldwide for a machine that processes large sheets by holding them stationary while traversing a saw blade through the material. Prior to Hendrick’s panel saw, also known within the industry as a plate saw, the most common method of sizing large sheets was manually pushing them through stationary blade table saws; a practice both non-productive and dangerous.
